Wine Down Yoga, a Tribute to Finn, and Plant-Powered Summertime Snack


THE TIME IS ALMOST HERE! WINE DOWN YOGA FINALLY STARTS AGAIN ON THURSDAY JUNE 10th.

It’s time to roll out our mats, breathe, and move our bodies on the Peace Platform while in the presence of rescued farm animals. 45 minutes of yoga and meditation followed by a sip and stroll with our sanctuary friends. Refreshments will be provided. Bring your mat, a warm layer of clothing, and your cup! 6:30 pm every Tuesday & Thursday. $25 per person. Directions to the sanctuary will be emailed upon sign-up.


Finn's Passing

Finn was rescued almost four years ago during a ceremonial Kaporos ritual- an annual event on New York streets where chickens are starved then slaughtered to absolve religious followers' sins.


IIt puts our minds at ease that he didn't suffer and was surrounded by Eve, Betty, and Baby upon his soul leaving his body. His death was likely due to heart failure which is common to his size and breed.

We will sorely miss hearing, seeing, and being with you Finny Finn. Rest in peace dear friend.

Abundance Kale Salad with Savory Tahini Dressing

from the Minimalist Bake

ROASTED VEGETABLES

  • 1 medium zucchini (sliced in 1/4-inch rounds)

  • 1 medium sweet potato (sliced in 1/4-inch rounds)

  • 1 cup red cabbage (shredded)

  • 1 Tbsp melted coconut oil (or sub water or use our method for oil-free vegetables)

  • 1 Pinch sea salt

  • 1/2 tsp DIY curry powder (or store-bought)

DRESSING

  • 1/3 cup tahini

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 Tbsp coconut aminos (plus more to taste or sub tamari or soy sauce)

  • 1 Pinch sea salt (omit if using tamari or soy sauce, as the flavor is more intense)

  • 1 large clove garlic (minced)

  • ~1/4 cup water (to thin)

SALAD

  • 6 cups mixed greens (kale, romaine, mixed greens, etc.)

  • 4 small radishes (thinly sliced)

  • 3 Tbsp hemp seeds

  • 1 ripe avocado (cubed)

  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice or apple cider vinegar

TOPPINGS optional / choose your favorites

  • 1 batch Crispy Baked Chickpeas

  • 2 cups cooked quinoa* (I cooked my quinoa with curry powder // omit to keep grain-free)

  • DIY Kimchi (or store-bought)
